Code of Police Laws (Cap. 10), article 136
136. (1) No cemetery shall be const ructed at a distance less
than one hundred and eighty-three metres from any house intende d
for habitation:
Provided that where, notwithstanding such distance, there
may be a danger to public health or a nuisance to the neighbour s,
such distance shall be increased , and where considered expedien t in
the particular circumstances of a given case such distance shal l be
reduced, in each case as the Gen eral Services Board shall direc t.

allow extension of
existing
cemeteries.
(2) Nevertheless, it shall be law ful for the Superintendent of
Public Health to allow an extension of any cemetery constructed
before the first of January nineteen hundred and thirty-two,
although the distance of any suc h cemetery or of such extension
from any house intended for habitation be less than that mentio ned
in sub-article (1), if he consid ers such extension to be necess ary for
the exigencies o f the district.
