289. (1) The consignee shall be responsible for the proper preservation of the property entrusted to him and he shall not use, nor shall he allow any person to use, such property unless otherwise ordered by the court: Provided that the debtor may be allowed to use or retain in possession such articles of the p roperty seized as the court ma y authorise if the court considers that such articles are normall y required by an average househol d for decent living to maintain the human dignity of the debtor and his family. ( 2 ) W h e r e t h e p r o p e r t y s e i z e d i s o f a p e r i s h a b l e n a t u r e , t h e Registrar shall, without further authorisation, sell the goods seized and with the profit made from th at sale, he shall proceed accor ding to the provisions of article 284.
