431. (1) In the cases referred to in article 428, the pleadings shall be deemed to be closed - (a) on the filing of the answers and respective applications of the contending parties; or (b) on the expiration of the time prescribed in sub-article (2), if the parties or any of the parties served with the application shall fail to fil e the answer and respective application within such time. (2) The party served with an app lication shall file an answer or a respective application within fifteen days from the date of service.
