581. When both the examination and cross-examination are
concluded, no further questions may be put by either of the par ties;
but it shall be lawful for the court, or for the party with the
permission of the court, to ask such questions as arise out of the
answers given in the course of the examination or cross-
examination.
Questions by court. 582. It shall be lawful for the court, at any stage of the
examination or cross-examinati on, to put to the witness such
questions as it may deem necessary or expedient.
