The court may in the decree a ppointing the referee or at any time before the referee presen ts his report to the registra r, order the party by whom the fee is to be provisionally paid, to depos it with the registrar, within such time as the court shall direct, a sum which, in the opinion of the c ourt, approximately corresponds t o the fee which will b e due to the referee.
