7. (1) The magistrates shall s it in the inferior courts. (2) The Chief Justice may designate one of the magistrates as Senior Magistrate; such designation shall be for a specified ti me or until another magistrate is so designated. (3) Without prejudice to the provisions of this Code or of any other law prescribing the court or courts in which a magistrate shall sit, the Senior Magistrate shall perform such duties and functi ons as may be assigned by the Chief Justice or as may be provided by a ny law for the time being in force. Judges may not communicate with suitors, etc. Amended by: L.N. 46 of 1965; LVIII.1974.68; L.N. 148 of 1975; XXXI.2002.4.
