144. (1) The usufruct of the paren ts shall cease on the death of the child or on the marriage or remarriage of the parents or th e adoptive parents, a s the case may be. (2) It shall also cease for any other reason for which parental authority ceases. (3) Where the usufruct ceases in respect only of one of the parents, the fruit of the property subject to such usufruct sha ll not be comprised in any community of acquests subsisting between th e parent in respect of whom the usufruct has not ceased, and the parent in respect of w hom it has so ceased. Where parents continue to enjoy property on cessation of usufruct. Substituted by: XXI.1993.59.
