224. The provisions of the last preceding article, or, as the case may be, the declaration of the opening of the succession m ay also take place, even though no curator shall have been appoint ed, nor provisional possession grante d as provided in the preceding two sub-titles, in each o f the following cases: (a) if one hundred years since the birth of the absentee, and at least one year since the last news of him, shall have elapsed; (b) if eighty years since the bi rth of the absentee, and at least six years since the la st news of him, shall have elapsed. Rights of persons placed in absolute possession of property.
