580. (1) Where a thing has been formed by a mixture of different materials belonging to different owners, and such materials can be separated without injury, the owner who has no t given his assent to the commixture, may demand separation. (2) If the materials cannot be separated or if such separation cannot take place without injur y, the thing created by the commixture becomes common property in proportion to the value of the materials bel onging to each party.
