Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 873
873. It shall, nevertheless, be lawful for the person renouncing
as aforesaid to reserve a life annuity on the property so renou nced,
and, in any such case, the order or corporation may, upon the d eath
of the person renouncing, demand the payment of any amount of
the annuity which shall not have been paid to him provided he s hall
have expressly declared the default of payment and the debt is not
barred by prescription.
