Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 979
979. (1) Violence is a ground of nullity of a contract even
where the threat is directed aga inst the person or the property of the
spouse, or of a descendant or an a scendant of the contracting p arty.
(2) Where the threat is directed against the person or property
of other persons, it shall be in the discretion of the court, a ccording
to the circumstances of the case, to void the contract or to af firm its
validity.
