Maltese Citizenship Act (Cap. 188), article 8

8. Any person who prior to the coming into force of this article was deemed under the provisions of the Constitution of Malta or of any other law to have ceased to be a citizen of Malta 8 CAP . 188.] MALTESE CITIZENSHIP because of the possession or acqui sition, voluntary or involunt ary of any other citizenship, shall be entitled upon making applica tion in such manner as may be prescribed and upon taking the oath of allegiance, to be registered as a citizen of Malta: Provided that no person shall be entitled to be registered as a citizen of Malta under this ar ticle if such person had been a citizen of Malta other than by virtue of articles 3 or 5 or by virtue of articles 22 or 25 of the Constitution as in force prior to t he coming into force of the Constitution (Amendment) Act, 2000, an d the Minister is satisfied that t he grant of citizenship to such person is contrary to the public interest. Persons deemed never to have lost Maltese citizenship.
