Merchant Shipping Act (Cap. 234), article 231
231. If any person -
(a) knowingly and wilfully makes, or assists in making, a
false or fraudulent declarat ion of survey or certificate
i s s u e d o r i s s u a b l e u n d e r t h e f o r e g o i n g p r o v i s i o n s o f
this Part of this Act; or
(b) forges or assists in forging, or procures to be forged,
fraudulently alters, assists in fraudulently altering, or
procures to be fraudulently altered, any such
declaration or certificate, o r anything contained in, or
any signature to, any such d eclaration or certificate,
that person shall for each offen ce be liable to imprisonment fo r a
period not exceeding two years or to a fine ( multa) not exceeding
five hundred units, or to both such imprisonment and fine.
