Merchant Shipping Act (Cap. 234), article 264
264. (1) Where a ship to which the load line provisions of this
Act apply, not being a ship regi stered under this Act, has been
surveyed and marked in accordance with the load li ne rules, the n,
on the application of the owner of the ship, a Malta load line
certificate shall be issued to him by the Minister.
(2) Subject to the next following sub-article, the provisions of
articles 256 and 257 shall have effect in relation to a certifi cate
issued under sub-article (1) as they have effect in relation to a
certificate issued under article 255.
(3) Any certificate issued under sub-article (1) in respect of a
ship to which article 261 applies shall be valid only so long a s the
ship is not plying on international voyages and shall be cancel led
by the Minister if he has reason to believe that the ship is pl ying on
international voyages.
