344. For the purpose of the salva ge provisions of this Act - (a) the liability of the owner to pay salvage shall extend to persons having an interest which has been saved by the property being brought into a position of security; (b) no salvage shall be due - (i) to persons having such relation to the vessel assisted or saved as it is their duty to render assistance otherwise than under the provisions of this Act, except where the services rendered are of an exceptional nature; or (ii) to persons rendering assistance notwithstanding the express and reasonable prohibition of the vessel to which the se rvices are rendered.
