Merchant Shipping Act (Cap. 234), article 44A

44A. (1) It shall be lawful for the assignee of part of a debt or other obligation secured by a registered mortgage of a ship or share to demand that the assignment be entered in the registry of the particular ship for the part so assigned and the registrar shal l, upon the production to him of the relative instrument of transfer to gether with the mortgage to which it relates, forthwith proceed to rec ord such partial assignment by entering in the register the name of the assignee as co-mortgagee of the ship or share, and shall by memorandum under his hand notify on the mortgage that such M E R C H A N T S H I P P I N G [CAP. 234. 33 assignment has been recorded by him, stating the day and hour o f the record. (2) The provisions of article 44(2) shall be applicable mutatis mutandis to the assignments contem plated in sub-article (1).
