Probation Act (Cap. 446), article 24
24. (1) A court, on making a probation order, community
service order, combination order, an order for conditional disc harge
or on discharging any offender absolutely may, without prejudic e to
its power of awarding costs under articles 380 and 533 of the
Criminal Code, order the offender to pay such damages for injury
or compensation for the loss as the court thinks reasonable.
(2) When issuing an order under sub-article (1), the Court may
direct that such costs or damages are paid in instalments, in p articular
having regard to any other obligations which the offender has t owards
the victim or any of the victim’s dependants.
(3) An order for the payment of damages or compensation as
aforesaid may be enforced in like manner as if it had been give n in
a civil action between the offender and the person to whom the
damages or compensation are ordered to be paid:
Provided that nothing in this article shall derogate from any
right of such person to recover any greater amount by any other
means from the offender or any other person liable to pay the s ame.
