Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 251GA
251GA. Any person who by force, bribery, deceit, deprivation of
liberty, improper pressure or any other unlawful conduct or by threats
of such conduct, lures another pe rson to the territory of anoth er State
other than the one he or she resides in with the purpose of for cing such
person to enter into a marriage shall, unless the fact constitu tes a more
serious offence under any other provision of this Code, be liab le upon
conviction to imprisonment for a term from four (4) to six (6) years:
Provided that for the purposes of this article, marriage shall
mean any religious or civil cere mony of marriage, whether or no t
legally binding:
Provided further that for the pur poses of this article, when th e
marriage is not legally binding, the marriage shall be socially
recognised as having simila r effects as a marriage.
