Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 346
346. ( 1 ) I t i s t h e d u t y o f t h e P o l i c e t o p r e s e r v e p u b l i c o r d e r
and peace, to prevent and to det ect and investigate offences, t o
collect evidence, whether again st or in favour of the person
suspected of having committed that offence, and to bring the
offenders, whether principals or accomplices, before the judici al
authorities.
(2) Notwithstanding the genera lity of sub-article (1), where
authorised by law and in the manner so provided, the Police may
delay its immediate intervention for the prevention of the
commission of an offence.
(3) In the carrying out of their duties, the Police shall take a ll
measures necessary for the immediate protection of victims foll owing
an assessment as the case may be.

(4) Any minor, or victim of a sexual offence, or vulnerable
victim or witness shall have the said interview and any stateme nt made
by him recorded by audio-visual means when interviewed by the
police in the course o f an investigation:
Provided that for the purposes of this sub-article, any audio-
visually recorded interview or s tatement shall be admissible as
evidence in any trial before a court of criminal judicature con cerning
the offence to which it relates.
