Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 378
378. In the case of contraventions, where the offence is in
respect of any insult, defamation or threat, the court may, in
passing sentence, allow the offender, in order that he may be
exempted from the whole or part of the punishment, to retract h is
words or to apologize to the complainant in open court accordin g to
the nature of the offence.
