Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 460
460. After the cross-examination of the witness, it shall not be
lawful for the parties to put a ny question directly to the witn ess.
They may, however, submit to the court any further question the y
may desire to put to the witnes s, and any such question, if
considered by the court to be material to the case, shall be pu t to the
witness by the court itself.
