*463. (1) Shorthand notes shall be t aken of the proceedings at
the trial on indictment of any pe rson before the Criminal Court . A
transcript of the notes or any p art thereof shall be made whene ver
the Criminal Court or the Court of Criminal App eal so directs:
Provided that subject to the provisions of article 518, a
transcript shall be furnished to any party having an interest i n the
proceedings upon the payment of such charges as may be fixed by
tariff.
(2) The Attorney General may also, if he thinks fit, in any case ,
direct a transcript of the shorthand notes to be made and furni shed
to him for his use.
(3) The cost of taking any such shorthand notes, and of any
transcript, where a tr anscript is directed to be made by the co urt or
by the Attorney General, shall be defrayed, in accordance with
scales of payment to be fixed from time to time, out of money
provided by the Government. Rules may be made by the Board
appointed under article 516(3), f or securing the accuracy of th e
notes to be taken and for the verification of the transcript.
