Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 465
465. After the conclusion of the cas e for the prosecution and for
the defence, the judge shall addr ess the jury, explaining to th em the
nature and the ingredients of the offence preferred in the
indictment, as well as any other point of law which in the part icular
case may be connected with the fun ctions of the jury, summing u p,
in such manner as he may think necessary, the evidence of the
witnesses and other concurrent evidence, acquainting them with the
powers which the jury may exerci se in the particular case, and
making all such other remarks as may tend to direct and instruc t the
jury for the proper disc harge of their duties.
