Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 582

582. (1) The court may not ex officio grant bail, unless it is applied for by the person charged or accused. Court may require previous notice of proposed surety. (2) The court may require a previous notice of twenty-four hours of the proposed surety. Power of court to extend time for appearance of accused. (3) It shall be lawful for the court, on just cause being shown, to extend the time originally appointed for the appearance of the person charged or accused. Right of surety to be released from his recognizance in certain cases.
