593. (1) Several offences comm itted by the same person, although not connected with each oth er, may be joined in the sa me indictment and tried at the same trial, even if some one of suc h offences is of an inferior jurisdiction; in any such case, the indictment shall be divided in di fferent counts, in respect of each of which the provisions contained i n article 589 shall be observed . Court may order separate trial. (2) Nevertheless the court may, upon the demand of the Attorney General, order that such offences be tried separately.
