Criminal Code (Cap. 9), article 606
606. (1) Every month, the registrar shall open the boxes and
draw ten ballots from the box containing the names of the forem en
and forty ballots from the box co ntaining the names of the comm on
jurors:
Provided that the Minister res ponsible for justice may, by
means of an Order in the Gazette, establish different methods o f

selection based on a computerised mechanism.
( 2 ) T h e b a l l o t s d r a w n s h a l l b e k e p t b y t h e r e g i s t r a r a n d t h e
boxes shall be again closed and sealed.
(3) If, before the end of the y ear, in each of the boxes there
shall not remain a number of ba llots corresponding to one-sixth
part of the registered jurors, the registrar shall replace in t he boxes
the ballots drawn during the year, bearing the names of the jur ors
who did not serve during that year.
(4) In the drawing of the ballots, the names of those who have
died or are under any of the disqualifications or disabilities referred
to in article 603(2), (3) and (4) or are exempt under article 6 04,
shall not be taken into account and shall be considered as if t hey
had not been drawn. The ballots referring to such persons shall be
taken away from the boxes.

(5) The registrar shall cause the list of names so drawn to be
published in the Gazette.
(6) Whenever two or more judges are appointed to sit
separately in the court, or whenever the registrar is for any o ther
reason so authorised by the court, the registrar may draw and
publish two or more separate lists of names of persons who are to
serve as jurors, each list bei ng drawn and published in accorda nce
with the foregoing provisions of this article, and all the prov isions
of the law shall apply to each and every one of such lists sepa rately.
(7) Whenever in the opinion of the court the number of
foremen or of common jurors, or of both, to be drawn in any mon th
or for the purpose of any particular trial (including a trial t hat has
been adjourned for any of the reasons referred to in article 61 3)
should be greater than the number prescribed in sub-article (1) or in
article 618, the court may order such number of ballots to be d rawn
from the boxes containing the names of the foremen or of the
common jurors, or of both, a s it may deem appropriate.
