Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 128B
128B. (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, any
person who knowingly makes a false statement, whether orally or
in writing, for the purposes of or in connection with an adopti on,
shall be guilty of an offence a nd shall, on conviction, be liab le to
imprisonment for a term of not less than three months but not
exceeding six months or to a fine ( multa ) of not less than five
hundred and eighty-two euro and thirty-four cents (582.34) but not
more than one thousand and one hundred and sixty-four euro and
sixty-nine cents (1,164.69), or to both.
(2) A person who knowingly gives false information in the
application for the entry of a person’s details in the Reunion and
Information Register shall be guilty of an offence and shall, o n
conviction, be liable to a fine ( multa ) not exceeding five hundred
and eighty-two euro and th irty-four cents (582.34).
