Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 371
371. The usufructuary of one or m ore particular tenements is
not bound to pay the debts for wh ich any of such tenements may be
hypothecated, nor is he bound to pay any annuity with which suc h
tenements stand charged; and if he is compelled to pay, he may
claim relief against the owner.
