Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 755

755. (1) The substitute shall be bound to perform all such obligations as may have been imposed on the party for whom he shall have been substituted, unle ss it shall appear that the te stator wished to impose such obligations solely on the party called in the first place. (2) Nevertheless, such obligations as particularly affect the person of the heir or legatee shall not, in the absence of an e xpress declaration to the contrary, be deemed to be operative in regar d to the substitution.
