Civil Code (Cap. 16), article 869
869. Notwithstanding the provisions of the foregoing articles,
the persons entitled to succeed, having the actual possession o f the
property of the inheritance, sha ll, on the lapse of three month s from
the opening of the succession, or from the day on which they ha d
knowledge of the devolution thereof, forfeit the right to renou nce
such inheritance, unless they have complied with the provisions
relating to the benefit of inve ntory; and, they shall be deemed to be
pure and unconditional heirs, even though they claim to be seiz ed
of such property unde r a different title.
