99A. The provisions of this Act and of any subsidiary legislation made thereunder shall also apply, in accordance with the provis ions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea as rat ified by the Law of the Sea (Ratification) Act , to an exclusive economic zone area or an environment prot ection area as defined in the Exclusive Economic Zone Act and subject to the provisions of this Act, a police officer shall, in relation to any artificial isla nd, installation, structure, equipmen t or device therein, have all the powers, protection and privile ges which he has in Malta.
