Merchant Shipping Act (Cap. 234), article 188

188. Where for any reason, except with the permission of the Minister, a person arriving in Malta in a ship as a stowaway is left behind in Malta, the cost of his maintenance, if any, incurred by the Government of Malta and the expense necessary for the removal of such person from Malta, shall be a liability of the agent of the ship from which the stowaway has landed, and any such cost or expense shall, unless met by the said agent, be recoverable from him. Master to notify discovery of stowaway. Amended by:  XIII. 1983.5; XXII. 2000.2.
