18. (1) Subject to the provisions of subarticle (2), the parties may be represented or assisted by persons of their choice. The names and addresses of such persons must be communicated in writing to the other party; such communication must specify whether the appointment is being made for purposes of representation or assistance. (2) A legal practitioner or a person not qualified under the Laws of Malta may act on behalf of a party to an arbitral proceeding to which this Act applies, including appearing befor e the arbitral tribunal, and he shall not thereby be taken to hav e breached any law of Malta regulating the practice of the legal profession.
