471. (1) A juror once impanelled must not, until the recording of the verdict of the jury, absent himself or communicate with any one except with the court, the other jurors, or the officer aut horized to communicate with the jurors, save, in some special case, wit h leave of the court. (2) When a trial does not come to an end on the same day in which the names of the persons t o serve as jurors have been dra wn, the court may, unless it deems it prejudicial in the interests of justice, allow the jurors to ret urn to their respective home on condition that they present themselves in court on the day and time to which the trial has been adjou rned, and on such other condit ions that the judge may deem fit to im pose in the inter ests of justi ce. No food or drink to be given to jurors after they retire for deliberation and until their verdict is recorded, without leave of court.
