76. (1) Whosoever shall administer, or cause to be administered or taken, any oath or engagement intended to bind the person taking the same to engage in any mutinous or seditious purpose, or to disturb the public peace, or to be of any associ ation, society or confederacy formed for any such purpose, shall, on conviction, be liable to imprisonment for a term from seven mon ths to two years. 52 CAP. 9.] CRIMINAL CODE (2) The punishment established in sub-article (1) shall also apply, where the oath or engagement is intended to bind the per son taking the same in any of the modes following: (a) to obey the orders of any committee or body of men not lawfully constituted, or of any leader or other person not having authority by law for that purpose; (b) not to inform or give evid ence against any associate or other person, or not to reveal or discover any illegal act done, attempted, or intended to be done by such person or any other.
