77. Subject to the provisions o f this Act, a child in any household, in respect of whom an allowance under article 76 or 76A is being paid, shall also become eligible to a Disabled Chi ld Allowance at the rate payable in accordance with Part VII of th e Fourteenth Schedule to this Act, if the head of household has t he care and custody of such child who is certified to be suffering from cerebral palsy or from a mental s evere subnormality or a severe ly disabled person or a visually im paired person in accordance wit h the provisions of this Act. For the purposes of this article a child shall still be deemed to be a sev erely disabled person if certi fied to be totally and permanently mute or permanently deaf to a degree of no less than 70 decibels: Provided that, where an allo wance under this article is payable in respect of a visually impaired child, that allowance shall cease to be payable as soon as a pension under article 27 is or becomes payable in his respect: Cap. 605. Provided further that, where a child in respect of whom this article applies reaches his 16th birthday ( or his 14th birthday in the case of a visually impaired child) and for some reason fails to qualify for a pension under article 27, he shall remain eligibl e to an allowance under this article if he is not gainfully occupied an d is still undergoing full-time education or training in an educatio nal institution recognized by the Government in terms of the Education Act , and no form of remuneration or allowance (excluding any allowance payable under this Act) is being paid to him or her during such time.
